Speaking on the Inside Elland Road Podcast, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has shared an update on Leeds’ transfer plans this summer.
The Whites are in for what could be an exciting summer, and Smyth says that we could see some movement in the market sooner rather than later at Elland Road.
What’s been said?
Smyth says that Leeds are confident that they’ll be able to sign a left-back and a new midfielder fairly swiftly, but they don’t feel as confident when it comes to signing a winger.
“We’re expecting before too long the arrival of a left-back, We talked last week about some of the names. There is a guy whose name hasn’t emerged is still ranking quite highly on their list,” Smyth said.
“Leeds want to move quite quickly. Well, everyone wants to move quickly, but Leeds feel quite confident that they can get that done fairly swiftly. They feel the same on the midfielder, but in terms of a winger there’s still some deliberation over which one they’ll go and get, so that might go a little bit longer.”
Who will it be?
So, we can expect a left-back and a midfielder to come in fairly swiftly, but the question remains, who will these players be?
Well, Javier Galen looks to be an option at left-back, while the Whites have recently been linked with a move for Fulham’s Harrison Reed.
The Euros of course start on Friday evening, and transfer business is usually slower throughout an international tournament, but Smyth says Leeds expect to have two deals done fairly swiftly.
This situation is certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming days and weeks.
