Alex Crook has claimed live on TalkSPORT that Maty Ryan could join Celtic this summer rather than Arsenal.
Arsenal are thought to be pushing for a deal to bring in Ryan after he spent last season on loan at his boyhood club.
However, Celtic have just appointed Ange Postecoglou and that complicates matters.
Postecoglou worked with Ryan when in charge of Australia, and the Celtic boss is believed to be a big fan of the Brighton goalkeeper.
As a result, Crook says it is possible that Celtic do launch a bid to land the Australian.
“Maty Ryan spent the second half of last season on loan at his boyhood heroes [Arsenal],” Crook said on TalkSPORT.
“There is a possibility that loan could become a permanent move. But it has just been suggested to me that Ange Postecoglou, who managed Maty Ryan for Australia, could also be interested in taking the Brighton goalkeeper to Celtic.”
First-team football over the Premier League?
A move to Celtic could yet appeal to Ryan, even if turning down Arsenal may be difficult.

Ryan is only ever likely to play a back-up role at the Emirates Stadium, whereas at Celtic he could well arrive as first-choice.
Celtic do already have Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain at the club, but Ryan would surely have a better chance of displacing either of those than Bernd Leno at Arsenal, while the German remains at the Emirates Stadium.
If Ryan was to join Celtic, he could help Postecoglou’s side build from the back, as he is so talented with the ball at his feet.
