Tottenham’s lengthy search for a new manager could be coming to an end with Paulo Fonseca now expected to land the job.
Spurs sacked Mourinho in April, and it’s taken them almost two months to find his successor with Sky Italia suggesting that Fonseca will be appointed next week.
Fabio Paratici will lead transfers, but if Fonseca gets a big say too, Shakhtar Donetsk ace Manor Solomon should be on the radar.
What has Tottenham-bound Fonseca said about Solomon?
Fonseca coached the Israeli playmaker at Shakhtar, and branded him a ‘wonderful’ signing having watched him in action.
Solomon made a huge impression on Fonseca, and a reunion could be an exciting proposition for Tottenham.
The 21-year-old has been likened to Eden Hazard, and can give Tottenham further depth on the left flank or as a number 10, providing guile, skill and trickery in tight areas – attributes that Spurs sometimes lack.
Arsenal’s interest in Solomon
If Tottenham do make a move to reunite Fonseca with Solomon – and it’s a mere suggestion right now – it would be a blow for Arsenal.
Solomon looks to be a prime alternative to Martin Odegaard at Arsenal, but if Fonseca heads to Spurs he should look to strike an early blow to Tottenham’s bitter rivals by moving for Solomon.
