According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City will sell midfielder Yangel Herrera for around £20million this summer amid interest from West Ham United.
City are looking to raise funds for big signings this summer, and Herrera is one player who may be let go.
City allegedly value Herrera at £20million, and it’s predicted that he will be leaving the club without ever playing for them.
West Ham’s interest in Herrera
The report notes that West Ham have been scouting Herrera during his two-year loan spell with Spanish side Granada.
The 23-year-old has excelled in La Liga and in helping Granada in the Europa League, and could now earn a big move off the back of his exploits.
West Ham won’t have it all their own way though, as Crystal Palace, Southampton, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Villarreal all want Herrera too.
Who is Yangel Herrera?
Herrera joined City from Atletico Venezuela in 2017, but has never played for the club and instead spent his time on loan with New York City, Huesca and Granada.
A Venezuela international with 21 caps to his name, Herrera is primarily a defensive midfielder with a real combative nature, admitting that he wants to be like Sergio Busquets – but also thinks he can be like Paul Pogba too.
West Ham do want another central midfielder to help Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, with Herrera fitting the bill thanks to his defensive ability, though whether the Hammers can pay that £20million fee remains to be seen.
