Mark Lawrenson told Off the Ball that reported Liverpool target, Jude Bellingham, plays like he’s ‘fearless’, just like Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden.
The 17-year-old is hoping to be one of the stars of Euro 2020 and Lawrenson has backed him to be one of the shining lights.
EuroSport claimed in April that Liverpool are keeping tabs on the Dortmund superstar, who was also linked with the club before he moved to Germany.
The youngster player at this summer’s Euros, the world is at Bellingham’s feet and he will be hoping to be one of many England players who lights up the tournament.
Lawrenson spoke highly about the qualities Bellingham has in his locker and how he plays like someone who is ‘ten years’ older.
“You talk about Sancho, but this kid Bellingham, who is just a kid, isn’t he,” said Lawrenson. “He plays with a fabulous maturity.
“He’s got great ability. And he’s probably, along with Foden and Sancho, they are fearless. They haven’t really had a major disappointment in everything they have done.
“They have been extremely well-coached and they know when to use their ability. And when to play easy. He excites me, Bellingham.
“He is one of those, you look at him, and he is always likely to do something – the last few times I have seen him, it has looked like he’s been there for 10 years and it looks so easy for him. And he makes fabulous decisions.”
If Bellingham does have a standout Euros then it will be difficult to see how he stays at Dortmund this summer.
But luckily for the box-to-box number eight, he is years and years away from just hitting his peak, so it is perhaps better if he continues to develop in Germany.
He’s earning the much-needed game time, playing in the Champions League, and most importantly growing and improving.
The technically-gifted teen isn’t an England regular as of yet, but if his rise continues then it won’t be too long before he’s the first name on Gareth Southgate’s teamsheet.
