Battlefield 2042 was revealed in a spectacular trailer full of blistering tornadoes, and a release date for the game was announced along with an open beta as a pre-order bonus.

While the game looked incredible, know that it will not have a campaign or even a battle royale mode. Story campaigns have always divided audiences of multiplayer titles, but the lack of a battle royale mode has confused some because of its popularity in Fortnite and Warzone.

Although the lack of battle royale and a single-player campaign is disappointing to hear, good news is that you will be able to play the game before it fully comes out.

When does Battlefield 2042 come out?

Battlefield 2042 will come out on October 22nd.

Although the lack of battle royale will disappoint some people, the game is going above and beyond with 128 player matches. The gameplay will also feature wingsuits as well as hazardous tornadoes to make the action even more frantic.

Is Battlefield 2042 crossplay?

Crossplay is not confirmed for Battlefield 2042, but cross platform multiplayer news will be announced soon.

The general manager of DICE, Oskar Gabrielson, said more will be announced about the multiplayer feature leading up to the game’s launch (via VG24/7). Although not official, this news could potentially be made at EA Play on July 22nd.

EA’s next instalment will be available on next-gen consoles as well as PC where the series will be debuting on the Epic Games Store for the first time. While cross platform gameplay is expected, issues may arise from the fact the PS4 and Xbox One versions will only have half the 128 players in multiplayer modes.
