Tottenham’s manager hunt has taken them down a number of blind alleys, but it seems as though they now have a genuine candidate lined up as Fabrizio Romano claims the London club are in talks with Paulo Fonseca.

Fonseca is of course the former Roma manager, who was ironically replaced by Jose Mourinho back in April when it was announced that the ex-Spurs boss would be taking over in the Italian capital this summer.

In a remarkable turn of events it now seems as though the manager Mourinho is replacing could in fact take his former job.

Of course, we’ve heard this one before.

Just because Tottenham are in talks with Fonseca doesn’t mean that they’re going to appoint him imminently.

Spurs were infamously in talks with Antonio Conte this time last week only for the deal to fall apart at the eleventh hour, and while Fonseca seemingly isn’t as fussy as Conte, there’s nothing to say that the same won’t happen on this occasion.

Will the 48-year-old be Tottenham’s next manager? Only time will tell, but it seems as though things are moving in a positive direction.

This is certainly a situation Tottenham supporters should be keeping an eye on.
