Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio wants to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers and won’t sign a contract extension with the Premier League outfit, Corriere dello Sport has reported of the Roma target.

Is the greatest era in Wolves’ modern history coming to an end?

Nuno Espirito Santo walked away from the Black Country outfit on the final day of 2020/21 and worrying signs are starting to emerge suggesting the manager won’t be the only one saying his goodbyes this summer.

Wolves star Neves ‘sets his heart’ on Arsenal

According to the Daily Mail, Ruben Neves has told his Wolves teammates he has his heart set on a move to Arsenal – although Mikel Arteta will have to sell Granit Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles to finance a deal for the Portuguese pass-master.

Reports coming out of Italy, meanwhile, suggest Wolves’ Iberian contingent may be losing not just one but two key members.

Veteran shot-stopper Patricio is set to become a free agent in 2022.

And, during talks with agent Jorge Mendes and club secretary Matt Wild, the former Sporting Lisbon ace made it clear he has no intention of extending his £100,000-a-week deal.

Will Roma raid Wolves for Rui Patricio?

Jose Mourinho has tasked Roma with finding a proven, top-level goalkeeper and Patricio, at 33, ticks plenty of boxes.

What’s more, after three seasons in England Patricio feels the time is right for a new challenge in a new league.

So while Wolves appear to have found a new manager with Bruno Lage overcoming those pesky work-permit concerns, it’s still shaping up to be a busy summer at Molineux.

Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota have already gone, with Joao Moutinho potentially on his way too.

The Wolves side that kicks off 2021/22 may be unrecognisable from the one that came so close to European glory.
