There are already murmurings that Arsenal may well be open to selling Pierre Emerick Aubamayeng this summer, the Telegraph report.
Aubameyang signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal just last season, but his importance to the side diminished this campaign.
The experienced striker couldn’t find his top form, as he endured his poorest scoring season since moving to the Premier League.
With Arsenal possessing some vibrant attacking youngsters now, Aubayemang’s status as a permanent starter for Mikel Arteta’s side is no longer secure.
And the Telegraph say that whispers have started to suggest that the Gunners may be open to offloading their captain this summer.
Even after his recent struggles that would be a shock, given his previous importance to the side.
Could selling Aubameyang be best?
But there may also be some reason to believe that Arsenal could make a smart move by selling him.
The Gunners are known to want to strengthen other areas of their squad and at 31, Aubameyang would still possess some value.
However, he is now at an age where, as every season passes, the fee Arsenal could fetch for him diminishes.
Aubamayang, who was once labelled ‘brilliant’ by Ray Parlour (TalkSPORT), is also Arsenal’s top earner, and freeing up his wages would allow them far more room in the budget.
The concern would be whether Arsenal would be losing too much experience in one summer if they were to part ways with the Gabonese international though.
David Luiz has already departed, while Granit Xhaka looks to be on his way out, and if Aubameyang was to go too, it really would be a major shake-up at the Emirates Stadium.
