Rangers have been linked with Elfsborg defender Joseph Okumu; now rivals Celtic are entering the race.
The Gers were linked in April as Aftonbladet reported that Rangers wanted Okumu as a potential replacement if Filip Helander moves on this summer.
Rangers fans will have been left pretty excited when teammate Johan Larsson branded Okumu as ‘similar’ to Virgil van Dijk.
A number of other clubs want Okumu though, and Aftonbladet now claim that Old Firm rivals Celtic have joined the race.
It’s claimed that both Rangers and Celtic have offers on the table, as do Lorient and Gent, but no bids have been to Elfsborg’s liking so far.
Having been compared to Van Dijk, it’s no great surprise that the Bhoys now have Okumu on their radar.
The Kenyan international, 24, previously turned out for AFC Ann Arbor and Real Monarchs in the United States but has really become a star in Sweden.
Celtic need a centre back more than Rangers, and it remains to be seen whether Okumu is Glasgow-bound with so much interest.
