According to ABC, Real Madrid’s new boss Carlo Ancelotti does intend to use Martin Odegaard next season.
Ancelotti was named as Real’s new manager on Tuesday as he made a quickfire move from Everton, with the deal confirmed mere hours after it was rumoured.
The Italian heads back for a second spell as Real boss, and some have wondered just what this means for Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal fans spotted that Ancelotti said back in 2016 that he didn’t want Odegaard in his Real side, branding him a PR signing by Florentino Perez.
That raised hope that Ancelotti wouldn’t be bothered about having Odegaard back at Real with his Arsenal loan spell now over.
However, ABC claim that Ancelotti doesn’t want to sign another creative midfield player because he will reintegrate Odegaard.

That may effectively kill off Arsenal’s lingering hopes of bringing Odegaard back for next season, with a permanent deal seeming almost impossible now; another loan is their best bet.
The Norwegian ace had a big impact at Arsenal, but may well have played his final game for Arsenal with Ancelotti ready to give him a go at Real.
