According to TVI24, Marco Silva’s name has come up in boardroom meetings as Everton continue their hunt for Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement.
TVI24‘s show – Mais Transferências – sees journalists discuss a range of candidates in line to replace the Italian.
One of the journalists, Rui Pedro Braz, reveals that Silva is actually a name being discussed by Everton, along with Nuno Espirito Santo, David Moyes and Vitor Pereira.
Braz admits he was ‘surprised’ at this news – he’s not the only one.
The Toffees sacked Silva after just 18 months, as Everton sat in the relegation zone after a humiliating 5-2 defeat to Liverpool (BBC).
It must’ve hit the Portuguese coach pretty hard, as he hasn’t actually had another job since receiving his P45 in December 2019.
Re-appointing Silva would be a bizarre decision
If Silva is the man to replace Ancelotti, it would be a truly baffling decision.

It would somewhat make sense if the 43-year-old had taken a new job after leaving Everton, and gone on to shine.
If that happened, those at Goodison Park might think they made a mistake.
However, as things stand, Silva has literally done nothing that could’ve changed anyone’s perception of him as a manager.
In our view, the Toffees risk sparking riots on Merseyside if they choose to re-hire Silva.

Ancelotti was an ambitious appointment, and it’s vital that Everton find someone of a similar stature, or at least close to him in terms of quality.
Silva wouldn’t be either of those things.
Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright would be utterly, utterly mad to hire him.
