Leeds United want to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to a report from The Telegraph.
With Rodrigo emerging as more of a number 10, Leeds are now seemingly looking at additional firepower.
It’s claimed that Marcelo Bielsa wants a reunion with Batshuayi having previously coached him at Marseille.
So just how did Batshuayi fare under Bielsa?
The Belgian hitman joined Marseille from Standard Liege in 2014, and went on to score 10 goals in 28 games under Bielsa.
He then played just once for Bielsa in the 2015-16 campaign as the Argentinian quickly moved on, but it seems that he hasn’t forgotten about Batshuayi.
Batshuayi hasn’t forgotten about Bielsa either, telling Onze Mondial in 2018 that he used to get annoyed with Bielsa for not speaking to him.
Batshuayi felt he was training brilliantly, and yet still received nothing from Bielsa – but noted that the Argentinian was right in the end, understanding his personality perfectly whilst predicting his big move.

“He didn’t speak to me, he never spoke to me,” said Batshuayi. “And me, it p***ed me off because I was doing sick training, I worked like crazy, but he didn’t talk to me. And yet he always took other people to talk to them. In fact, it is all or nothing. Either he picks you up and talks to you for 40 minutes, or he doesn’t talk to you at all.”
“But looking back, I tell myself he knew who to do this with. Some needed this support. Me, he understood my personality, he knew that I could draw on my resources. I’ll tell you something. One day he told me something shocking. For several months, he hardly spoke to me. And the time he came to talk to me, he just said, ‘When you go out of here, you’re gonna go for 40 million’. He just told me that. In my head, I said to myself, ‘But he’s crazy’. In the end, he was right,” he added.
Batshuayi has spent the last 18 months on loan at Crystal Palace, recording eight goals in 33 games.
Signed for £33million in 2016, Batshuayi has barely made an impact at Chelsea, and Leeds would be looking for a major reduction on that price in order to make a deal happen.
