Clinton Morrison told Sky Sports on Thursday morning that it would be ‘superb’ from Daniel Levy if Tottenham appointed Antonio Conte as their next manager.
Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, claimed yesterday that Spurs have started talks with the ex-Chelsea boss.
Even though Conte won the Serie A title with Inter this season, before he could get the champagne out, he was out of the San Siro exit door after a disagreement with those running the title-winning ship.
And if Spurs can secure his signature, after his departure from Inter, then those fans in North London will get the champagne out for Conte instead.
And ex-Crystal Palace striker, Morrison, who is a boyhood Tottenham fan, shared from what he’s hearing, it would be the right move from the North London outfit to get Conte through their doors.
“I think that’s brilliant news,” said Morrison. “Everyone knows I am a big Tottenham fan.
“Trying to get someone in like a Conte, who is a serial winner. I think he’s a brilliant manager. He has got the best out of Romelu Lukaku this season, who has been outstanding for Inter.
“I think he will be brilliant. Do I still think he will be able to keep Harry Kane? I still think that’s a difficult situation. I think Kane will move on.
“But getting someone in like Conte would be superb from Daniel Levy – I do believe he is the right man.”

One thing is for sure, appointing Conte would get the fans off Levy’s back because the heat and pressure has been growing on him in recent months.
Tottenham have declined during a period when their best player – Harry Kane – is hitting his prime and has just produced his best season to date as a footballer.
In terms of demand, Conte is no different to Jose Mourinho, with both also having an emphasis on defence.
But perhaps where the Italian edges his rival, at this moment in time, is the fact that he is fresher on the scene and he has the ability to get the best out of players who weren’t previously rated.
