America de Cali are warning Santiago Moreno against a potential move to Leeds United or Rangers with the winger told to stay and continue his development in Colombia, according to Futbolete.
Is this a classic case of ‘too much, too soon’?
At 21 and with just 41 league appearances under his belt, America de Cali obviously believe one of the most exciting young forwards on the continent would be better off staying put for the time being.
In May, The Telegraph reported Moreno, who has been likened to Sadio Mane because of his searing pace and eye for goal from the left-hand side, is a target for newly crowned Scottish champions Rangers.
Leeds, Rangers or Southampton for Moreno?
Leeds United and Southampton are interested too.
And, given Marcelo Bielsa and Ralph Hasenhuttl can both boast a superb track record when it comes to developing young talent, it’s hard to imagine Moreno’s development stalling at Elland Road or St Mary’s.

According to Futbolete, however, America de Cali are convinced Moreno isn’t ready to fly the nest just yet.
The youngster could certainly benefit from working under former Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio, who is expected to become the club’s new manager following weeks of speculation.
With America de Cali making it clear they are open to offers in the region of £2.5 million for Moreno, however, a sizeable offer may be too good to turn down.
Reports at the weekend suggested the jet-heeled wideman would choose Rangers over Leeds or Southampton because of the prospect of European football at Ibrox.
