Arsenal are interested in snapping up Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht, it has been reported by DH Net.

Arsenal are looking to strengthen in central midfield, and Lokonga could represent a strong value for money addition.

It is claimed in the report that a bid of around £15 million could be enough to convince Anderlecht to part ways with their captain.

The 21-year-old has risen to prominence in the Belgian side’s team.

However, Arsenal have now spotted his talents and are said to be the most interested side in securing his services.

Promisingly for Mikel Arteta’s men, the move could well appeal to the youngster.

Lokonga has already told The Sun that a move is a real possibility this summer.

“It will all have to become apparent in the coming weeks, but it may well be that I am leaving,” he said.

“I feel ready for a higher level and I am looking forward to it. We shall see. I only go if it concerns a club that is clearly better than Anderlecht.

“Maybe I am leaving, but at the same time I am not in a hurry to leave.

“Only if all the ingredients are present, it may be possible to leave.”

A potential bargain

Lokonga would surely class Arsenal as a club who are stronger than Anderlecht.

The Gunners may not have European football on offer, but the appeal of joining one of the Premier League’s biggest sides is obvious.

Lokonga’s leadership qualities would likely appeal to Arsenal, as well as his ball playing skills.

The Gunners may well lose Granit Xhaka this summer, who is one of the most talkative players in their group, and Arsenal will need other vocal squad members to step up, if he does depart.

Arsenal need to be clever in the market, as they only have limited funds – and bringing in a club’s captain for just £15 million would certainly seem a smart move.
