Some Arsenal fans on social media are far from happy after it was announced that Bukayo Saka has been given the number 25 shirt for England at the upcoming European Championships.

Saka was selected for the final squad, and Gunners fans will be hoping to see him shine, but the fact that he has been given the number 25 shirt hasn’t filled supporters with confidence.

Usually, a high squad number indicates a lack of involvement, but of course, that’s not always the case.

We’ve seen plenty of footballers play key roles at international tournaments with high squad numbers, but it has to be said that these instances are exceptions rather than the rule.

Usually numbers one through eleven are key players, while the further away you get from the first 11 indicates being further down the pecking order, and with Saka being given the number 25, you’d have to imagine that he won’t be a starter at the tournament.

As you can imagine, Arsenal fans weren’t best pleased about this as they believe their star man should be one of the first names on the teamsheet for the Three Lions.

Of course, a lot of this speculation has come from reading between the lines and a theory that may not even ring true on this occasion, but the squad numbers announcement has certainly had Arsenal fans up in arms.
