Leeds United have the strongest interest in signing Nahitan Nandez, as a clutch of clubs circle, Tutto Mercato Web report.
Leeds are believed to be be competing with a whole host of Italian sides for the 25-year-old, who has impressed with Cagliari this term.
It is the Whites who are really pushing to land him though, according to the latest update.
Interestingly it has previously been claimed that Nandez has a release clause worth around £31 million, but it is felt that Leeds would only have to pay £26 million to get him (Cento Trentuno).
Good addition?
That would still make Nandez a rather pricy addition for Leeds, but he could be an appealing one at the same time.
Leeds are thought to be on the hunt for a central midfielder and Nandez has been a long term target.
There were reports that Leeds were interested in the Uruguayan last summer, but they were unable to pull off a deal at that time for the midfielder who has been labelled as ‘great’ by international teammate Rodrigo Bentancur (Calcio Mercato).

With a year of Premier League football under their belts, Leeds are now in a stronger financial position and look an even more appealing club to join though, which may make the transfer more possible this summer.
If Nandez was to join he could help bolster Leeds midfield ranks and provide cover for Kavin Phillips, or potentially start alongside the England international.
