According to NOS in the Netherlands, Arsenal are favourites to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is ‘almost certain’ to leave.
It’s claimed that Onana is set to depart Ajax this summer despite the fact that he can’t actually play again until 2022.
In February of this year, Onana was banned for a year following a doping violation, but he is appealing the severity of the ban and the case will be heard tomorrow.
With Onana’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2022, it’s claimed that he will still be sold this summer before he can walk away for nothing.
Arsenal have ‘ the best credentials’ to sign Onana, and have told the Cameroonian ace that he will be first-choice goalkeeper if he makes the move.
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have shown an interest too, but it’s Arsenal who are allegedly most likely to strike a deal amid question marks over Bernd Leno’s future.

The price seems pretty reasonable; up to €9million (£7.8million) if Onana gets his ban reduced and just €2million (£1.75million) if he doesn’t.
That would surely be worth the gamble for Arsenal, given that Onana is just 25, has more than 200 senior games under his belt and has earned huge praise from Arsene Wenger in the past.
If Onana’s ban is reduced tomorrow, Arsenal may be in a great position to strike an incredible bargain whilst also bolstering Mikel Arteta’s squad.
