Marca claim that Carlo Ancelotti will leave Everton in the coming hours, in a shock development.
Ancelotti is set to join Real Madrid, after spending just one full season with the Toffees.
And Everton supporters feel that Ferguson could now be the man to replace him.
Ferguson the front-runner?
Ferguson has worked with Ancelotti as his assistant and has widely been praised by Everton’s players.
His last spell in interim charge was also very impressive, as he injected passion and energy back into the Toffees play – and managed to unbeaten during his four games in temporary charge.
However, it would have to be considered a big risk if he was put in sole charge.
Ancelotti is arguably the highest profile manager in Everton’s recent history, whereas Ferguson is totally unproven.
And giving the reins to such an inexperienced boss would be a huge gamble from the Toffees, as they look to move forward next term.
