Jules Kounde is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar.
The Athletic claimed this week that Arsenal have earmarked the impressive Sevilla centre-back as a summer signing.
Kounde is set to be the focus of major transfer speculation over the coming months.
And perhaps even more now after the French defender dropped a major hint via The Manchester Evening News that he ‘may have to move’ on this summer.
He said: “Regarding my future, it is certain that I will perhaps be brought to change this summer, but nothing is acted yet, I did not decide anything. I may have to move, but it is not on the agenda.”
Potential boost for Arsenal
It goes without saying that the Gunners need defensive reinforcements.
Mikel Arteta’s side have just finished eighth in the Premier League table and although they were only six points off a top-four spot in the end, it isn’t a fair reflection of their reason.
Really, Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League were effectively over for half the 2020-21 campaign.
And there’s going to be massive pressure on Arteta next season because honestly, another season outside the top four won’t save the Spaniard.
With David Luiz gone and William Saliba and Dinos Mavropanos potentially leaving too, there’s going to be space for another centre-back at Arsenal this summer.
And time will tell whether Kounde – valued at £50 million – is a legitimate possibility.
