According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to North London.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy sacked the Argentine in November of 2019 and Pochettino has since joined Paris Saint-Germain.
But the Argentine lost a Ligue 1 title in his first half-a-season in the French capital and things aren’t going very well for him so far.
There’s a lot of Tottenham players who would love Pochettino back, but one of them is probably Jack Clarke.
When Clarke decided to leave Leeds United in a £10 million deal two years ago, the South American’s presence at Spurs was probably a factor.
After all, the 49-year-old manager was known for taking young players – like Dele Alli – to the next level and giving them a chance on the biggest stage.
But by virtue of the fact that Clarke still hasn’t made his full debut for the Lilywhites, you could say the 20-year-old – whose three senior appearances have all been off the bench – hasn’t developed as he would have liked in the 24 months since arriving.
He spent the second half of last season as a squad player on loan at Stoke City, starting six Championship games, after two more failed stints with Leeds and QPR the year before.
Still, there’s a reason why Tottenham signed him and it’s because there’s a hell of a lot of talent there.
And if Pochettino does return to North London, maybe that’s all the incentive Clarke needs to start rebuilding.
