We’re being treated to an all-English Champions League final this year, and as Europe comes out of lockdown and travel restrictions are lifted, a number of supporters are flocking to Portugal for the big match, but how many fans are at the Champions League final?

Manchester City and Chelsea are two of the best-supported teams in England, so as you can imagine, there was a huge demand for tickets for this one.

However, the game won’t be played in front of a full stadium due to ongoing covid regulations, but how many supporters will be in Lisbon?

How many fans are at the Champions League final?

UEFA have confirmed that 16,500 fans will be in attendance for the Champions League final.

Chelsea and Manchester City fans have each been given 6,000 tickets each for the game, while an extra 4,500 will be given to VIPs, sponsors and corporate hospitality programmes.

This is slightly less than the 21,000 we saw in Wembley for the FA Cup final earlier this month, but that’s due to the fact the Estadio do Drago holds 40,000 fewer spectators than Wembley.

As ever, supporters have had to present negative coronavirus tests before going to the game.

When will fans be back in stadiums?

We’re just weeks away from fans being allowed back in all stadiums at a full capacity.

Some supporters were allowed back into stadia from May 17th, but if everything goes to plan in the UK, grounds should be open to a full crowd from June 21st when all social distancing measures are due to be lifted.

This is the first Champions League final in two years to be played in front of spectators, and with Chelsea and City fans being amongst the rowdiest in England, there’s bound to be an atmosphere to remember.

Regardless of who you’re supporting, this should be one of the biggest spectacles we’ve seen in a long time.
