The Daily Mail has reported interest from Arsenal in Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

City are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the former Liverpool ace, and Arsenal are interested.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta worked with the England international attacking midfielder when he was a coach at City and would know all about the 26-year-old.

Sterling, who can also operate as a winger, is one of the best players in the Premier League.

Whether or not Sterling would be open to joining Arsenal remains to be seen.

There is also the small matter of the Gunners having enough money to sign the 26-year-old.

However, one thing is clear – Sterling would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal.

The attacker has improved a lot since he left Liverpool for City back in 2015, especially in his finishing.

The attacking midfielder scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season, 20 in 2019-20 and 17 in 2018-19.

Brendan Rodgers worked with Sterling when they were at Liverpool, and the Leicester City boss raved about him last year.

Rodgers recollected what made Sterling so special when he worked with him and hailed his mentality.

The Leicester boss told The Mirror about Sterling in March 2020: “He’s gone in there and developed and become a winner, which is clear to see now in his game.

“I look at Pep’s team and it’s not the same if he’s not in it. What a testament that is to a young English player. What I loved about Raheem was that, for a young boy, he knew what he wanted to be.

“When I ask young players what is it that they want to achieve, he wanted to be one of the best players in the world, at that age. That was where he was unique, because sometimes the British players may not have that ambition. But that was all he wanted to be.”

Rodgers’s comments suggest that Sterling has a winning mentality and wants to be the best player he can be.

Arsenal need ambitious players like that. The Gunners would be a better team with Sterling in it.
