Arsenal fans fear that they could be about to let Granit Xhaka leave the club far too cheaply.
Gazetta say that Arsenal are prepared to sell Xhaka for around £21 million, with Roma keen.
Those reports have now been backed up by multiple sources, with Gianluca Di Marzio suggesting that the transfer was close to completion.
The move means that Arsenal should raise some funds for their own planned additions.
However, the Gunners fear that they are letting the 28-year-old leave for well below his actual value.
In the modern day market £20 million is unlikely to stretch too far.
However, if Arsenal are to sell then they have at least sorted the deal quickly.
That should give them time to really assess the best option to be Xhaka’s replacement.
The Swiss international has his critics among the Arsenal fan base, but there is little doubting his importance to the team at the moment.
Xhaka has been a regular in Mikel Arteta’s side and is one of the most natural leaders in their group.
If he does depart, it will be imperative that Arsenal bring in a replacement of similar quality, otherwise they could leave themselves very short in central midfield next term.
