According to The Times, Mauricio Pochettino wanted to sell two Tottenham players after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool.
They are named as Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld, two players who are actually still at the club to this very day.
The information was revealed in a report from The Times, which very fairly questions why Pochettino would want to return to Daniel Levy.
The Times mention Levy’s refusal to grant Pochettino’s wishes, so much so that when he left, the Argentine emphasised how he was keen to work under the ‘right’ owner in future.
Additionally, it is noted that Tottenham have dropped from Champions League finalists, to a side now set to compete in UEFA’s third-rate competition, the UEFA Conference League.
There is also the small matter of Harry Kane’s future to deal with, while The Times add that there won’t be much money for Pochettino to sign his own players.

These are all fair points – it would be incredible if the 49-year-old returned to Spurs, in our view.
What are the chances of Pochettino returning?
Whilst we would be surprised to see it happen, it doesn’t sound as if Pochettino’s return is completely impossible.
The Independent believe that his contract with Paris Saint-Germain is not the most difficult to escape from.
Pochettino is uncomfortable within the power structure at PSG, in which he doesn’t have as much influence as he’d like.

The South American has also failed to settle in Paris, and still lives in a hotel despite being appointed back in January.
However, the Independent say Pochettino would have to resign to make a return to Tottenham happen, something that currently seems unlikely.
Nevertheless, make sure to keep an eye on this exciting saga – who knows what’ll happen next.
