Aston Villa are interested in signing Dwight McNeil from Burnley in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The report has claimed that the 21-year-old winger is of serious interest to Villa, who are also planning to sign Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City.

The Villans have done extensive groundwork on the youngster, and the scouting department has ‘closely scrutinised his in-game contributions’, according to the report.

Dwight McNeil to leave Burnley for Aston Villa?

McNeil is a very talented and promising young winger who has extensive experience in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old is a regular in the Burnley team, and the chance to play for Villa could be temping for him.

The youngster made 34 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Clarets this season.

McNeil scored two goals and gave five assists in those games.

The Burnley winger can also play in a more central attacking role, and that would help the Villans as well.

Villa are a big and ambitious club, but Burnley may not be willing to cash in on the youngster.
