Who could have seen this coming?

The Athletic report that Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino could be making a stunning return to Tottenham.

Talks are underway and the Argentinian will soon have a decision to make on whether or not to leave PSPG just six months into his time there.

Pochettino spent five-and-a-half successful years at Tottenham, turning them into top four regulars, title challengers and even Champions League finalists.

Losing that Champions League final seemed to leave Pochettino in a bit of a grump, and with Spurs’ form faltering, he was sacked in November 2019.

Replacing him with Jose Mourinho didn’t exactly work, and with Spurs now seeking a manager like Pochettino… they seem to be going for Pochettino himself.

That would mean working with Daniel Levy again, the man who sacked him and the man who arguably held Pochettino and Spurs back in the transfer market.

Levy has commented on the possibility of Pochettino returning the past, telling the London Evening Standard that ‘maybe one day’ he could return to Spurs.

Few expected that day to come so soon, but Levy made it clear 18 months ago that he was still a big Pochettino fan, with a reunion always on the table.

“You have to understand I had built up a personal relationship with Mauricio over five-and-a-half years,” said Levy. “It is not something I ever wanted. Personally, it was incredibly difficult, I told him that and he understood.”

“He’s been in football [a long time], he understands. It’s not personal and I’m sure he’ll come back stronger and get an opportunity to manage another great club. Maybe one day he’ll come back to us,” he added.
