Speaking on his YouTube channel, Goal journalist Charles Watts has claimed that everyone at Arsenal is excited about Charlie Patino, claiming that he’s being lined up for a first-team chance similarly to how Bukayo Saka was a couple of years ago.

Arsenal have a plethora of young talent coming through with the likes of Miguel Azeez and Kido Taylor-Hart looking like future first-team regulars at the Emirates, but one player they’re reportedly very excited about is Patino.

What’s been said about Patino?

Watts says that the teenager hasn’t been earmarked as a player who will be going out on loan, claiming that there’s a chance he’ll get a first-team chance in the near future, stating that he’s following a similar trajectory to Saka.

“Some players as far as I’m aware, like Charlie Patino, he’s very young, only 17. Isn’t being earmarked for loan at the moment, he’s possibly going to link-up straight with the first-team at some point, kind of like Saka did,” Watts said.

Watts spoke about Patino again later in the video.

“Someone who hasn’t been in the first-team yet, Charlie Patino he’s an absolutely huge talent, massive talent, midfielder. Unfortunately he got a hamstring injury towards the end of last season just as he broke into the U23s. Fantastic talent, love him as a midfielder everytime I see him, he’s got real quality. Everyone at Arsenal is very excited about him. So he could be the next superstar to come through Hale End.”

Exciting times

Arsenal haven’t been good at much in recent years, but one thing they’ve been fantastic at is giving chances to exciting young talents.

Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli have established themselves as first-teamers in north London, and it looks as though Patino could be next.

The fact that Arsenal are excited about Patino at the age of just 17 is very interesting, and it seems as though he’s a player to keep an eye out for next season.
