Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has opened up on his desire to one day play for Celtic.

The Scot is a boyhood Celtic supporter, but he hasn’t had the chance to turn out for the Bhoys yet during his career.

Robertson may be playing for Liverpool at the moment, but he says that if he isn’t able to retire with the Reds, he’d love to end his career at Parkhead.

What’s he said then?

Robertson has been very honest about his desire to play for Celtic.

“You know, I’d love to play for Celtic. When I was growing up and I was a young boy I said I’d give my best years to Celtic, and I don’t want to go there when I’m old and I have all of my mates hating on me because I can’t perform the way I used to,” Robertson said

“I’d love to retire at this club, but if not I’d love to pull on a Celtic shirt, but I don’t want to be an old fart when I go up there. I want to still be able to play well, and if I can’t do that I will get my mates hating on me, that’s for sure.”

Perfect end to his career

While it would be great to see Robertson bow out as a Liverpool legend, a stint at Celtic would probably be the best way he could end his career.

The £8m man is a lifelong supporter and he’s bound to be loved north of the border if he ever joins the Glasgow outfit.

Unfortunately, with Robertson being so fit, it’s hard to see Liverpool ever letting him go, even in his advanced years, but you can never write anything off.
