Reported Liverpool target Pau Torres has indicated that he would be interested in playing under Jurgen Klopp, while speaking to Sport ahead of Villarreal’s Europa League final clash with Manchester United.

Could tonight’s crunch clash in Gdansk be the farewell appearance for a Villarreal-born defender who has risen through the ranks to become one of the first names on the team-sheet at his boyhood club?

The ball-playing Torres has played a major role as Unai Emery reached a fifth Europa League final, starring across both legs of the semi-final triumph over reported suitors Arsenal.

The Spain international, who looks certain to start for Luis Enrique’s side at Euro 2020, will now come up against another long-time admirer in the shape of Manchester United.

From La Liga to Liverpool for Pau Torres?

Liverpool have also been linked with the £40 million-rated Torres, via the Mail in March.

And, when asked about a potential future under Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola, the Castellon-born stopper admitted that his lofty ambitions could one day see him share a dressing room with one of the game’s greatest coaching minds.

“You want to be with the best, (Klopp, Guardiola and Mourinho) are very experienced coaches like those in any high-level team today,” said Torres, who has earned seven caps for La Roja since his 2019 debut.

“Everyone can bring you new things, and all the positives that someone contributes so you can grow is welcome.”

Luring Torres away from Villarreal will not be easy, with the 24-year-old admitting that his obsession with all things yellow goes all the way back to his childhood growing up in the shadows of the Estadio de la Ceramica.

According to the Mail, Liverpool view Torres as a potential alternative to top target Ibrahima Konate.

But with the RB Leipzig ace expected to finally complete his switch to Anfield, via the Guardian, the Reds may be about to bow out of the race for Torres’s signature.
