According to Goal, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will give a chance to Harvey Elliott during pre-season.

The Reds may well say goodbye to Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi this summer with neither layer really in the plans at Anfield.

That would leave Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino as the key attackers, leaving room for others to either step up or come in.

One prime candidate is Elliott, who impressed on loan at Blackburn Rovers this past season with seven goals and 11 assists in 41 Championship games.

Elliott was such a favourite at Ewood Park that Rovers winger Stewart Downing – a former Liverpool player himself – suggested that the teenager is a ‘frightening’ talent.

Elliott, 18, has been touted as a star of the future for years now, and he’s already made nine first-team appearances for Liverpool.

Now, it’s suggested that Klopp wants to give Elliott an opportunity with the first team in pre-season rather than send him out on loan again.

If Elliott shines over the summer, we could see him take a bigger role at Anfield and emerge as a first-team option, just like other youngsters like Caoimhin Kelleher, Neco Williams, Rhys Williams and Curtis Jones have over the past year.
