Newcastle United ended the season with a 2-0 win at Fulham, and will now be seeking reinforcements.
The Magpies finished 12th in the Premier League table, and Steve Bruce will be wanting new additions – thought he will have a small budget to work with.
That may mean that Newcastle have to target free agents, and Jetro Willems has to be a name on Bruce’s wish list.
The 27-year-old Dutch left back starred on loan at Newcastle in the first half of last season, before suffering a major knee injury in January 2020.
Willems hasn’t played since, and with his Eintracht Frankfurt contract up this summer, some want him back at St James’ Park as competition for Jamal Lewis.
Bild even reported earlier this month that Willems will re-sign for Newcastle this summer because he has no future at Frankfurt.

That has now been confirmed, as the Bundesliga side have announced that Willems is leaving at the end of his contract next month.
With the left back now able to move on for nothing, Newcastle have to be favourites to sign him, potentially welcoming him back to Tyneside even with his injury risk.
