Some at Tottenham Hotspur feel that Mauricio Pochettino may be open to making a sensational return to the club, the Independent report.

Pochettino left Tottenham in 2019, but has always stated that he would like to return to North London one day.

It was not initially expected that a comeback could be possible just 18 months after his departure, but it seems that talk is starting to emerge that it could occur now.

Pochettino has failed to lead PSG to the Ligue 1 title or the Champions League this season, which has to go down as a disappointment.

That has led to some Tottenham insiders apparently suggesting that a shock move for Pochettino should be seriously considered.

If he was to return to Tottenham it would likely be a move welcomed by many supporters.

Spurs have unquestionably gone backwards since his departure, even if their form in his last year in charge was also worthy of some concern.

Pochettino still holds a strong relationship with many members of the squad, and the likes of Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son and Hugo Lloris would surely be delighted with the return of their former boss.

Even the wantaway Harry Kane spoke with effusive praise of Pochettino after his departure, calling him a ‘great manager’ (Goal).

The latest update adds a layer of intrigue after Football London claimed that Tottenham had identified their first choice managerial target, which would test the club’s financial power.

Pochettino would certainly fit that bill, but the comeback still feels unlikely at this stage.
