According to the Daily Record, Celtic are intending to appoint Eddie Howe as their new manager this week.
It’s claimed that Howe is finally preparing to sign a contract and become Celtic manager by the end of the week.
Howe remarkably met Dermot Desmond and new chief executive Dominic McKay almost two months ago, and still no deal has been done.
Celtic are now seemingly closing in on their man, and McKay also wants to bring in a director of football at the same time to really start Celtic’s new era with a double move.
The big movement came over the weekend as Bournemouth were dumped out of the Championship play-offs, meaning Howe’s preferred staff members can now sort out their futures with no distractions.
Howe wants coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone to join him at Celtic from Bournemouth, with Richard Hughes also wanted from the Cherries.

Now that Bournemouth’s season is over, Celtic and Howe may be free to bring in Purches and Weatherstone, with Howe possibly unwilling to agree a deal until they become available.
With no other managers really linked with Celtic over the last couple of months, it’s clear that Howe has been their top choice for a while – and that patience may be about to pay off.
