Marcelo Bielsa has revealed it is too early to know the severity of Kalvin Phillips’s injury following Leeds United’s win today.

Leeds rounded off a brilliant Premier League campaign with a 3-1 win over West Brom at Elland Road.

But the victory was marred somewhat by a potential scare involving Phillips.

The Leeds midfielder went into a tackle with Grady Diangana in stoppage time and was ultimately helped off the field whilst holding his shoulder.

With England boss Gareth Southgate expecting to include him in his Euro 2020 squad, it’s a worry for the 25-year-old.

Here’s what Bielsa said to BT Sport after the game: “I couldn’t tell you if the injury is severe or not but we hope he can go to the Euros.”

Phillips, who scored Leeds’ second goal against the Baggies, has already had a stint out injured this season and this would be the worst time possible to pick up another one.

Bielsa’s side secured a ninth-placed finish on their long-awaited Premier League return, and Phillips, known affectionately as the Yorkshire Pirlo by fans of the Elland Road club, has played a massive role in that dream comeback to top-flight life.

He deserves a spot on the plane this summer as much as anyone and hopefully for his and England’s sake this injury isn’t much to be concerned about.
