Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has been speaking to The Face about his future, amid talk of Arsenal holding an interest in him.
The 18-cap Ivory Coast international said: “I feel like I can have another shot at the top teams, because my dream is to win things.
“I’m good enough to go out there and compete with the best. If the opportunity came, I wouldn’t turn it down, because I feel like I deserve it. It’s so I can show my kids: ‘This is what daddy won.’”
It was 90min who revealed back in April that the Gunners were again on the trail of Zaha, who they tried to sign under Unai Emery.
Back in July 2019, Arsenal saw a £40 million bid rejected for the 28-year-old, who was keen to leave Selhurst Park.
Now, nearly two years on, Zaha’s message remains the same – he wants out.
He’s right. He does deserve a move.
Of course, Crystal Palace don’t want to lose their talisman, but it gets to a point where keeping an unhappy player does more harm than good.
Zaha handed in a transfer request in 2019, but is still at the club despite maintaining a desire to leave.
That is dangerous play from the south Londoners.
The £130,000-a-week man has enjoyed many special moments at Crystal Palace, but if the club keep ignoring his pleas to leave, things could potentially turn sour.
There also doesn’t seem to be much malice in Zaha’s request.
The Ivorian simply wants to better himself, and have the chance to end his career with some silverware under his belt.
Crystal Palace’s No.11 has also provided two assists.
There’s no doubting that he would enrich Mikel Arteta’s frontline, such is his talent going forward.
