
Coincidence? Wolverhampton Wanderers fans certainly don’t think so.
Just as Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial search hit another brick wall – with Max Allegri the latest coach to reject Daniel Levy’s advances – a man Spurs initially identified as the ideal replacement for Jose Mourinho is suddenly available.
Mourinho was still in the Tottenham hot seat when the Express reported on 15 April that Levy holds a special place in his heart for Nuno Espirito Santo.
Seven weeks later, the former Porto and Valencia boss – who shares the same agent as Jose Mourinho by the way – is bidding an emotional farewell to a Wolves side that was lodged between Barnsley and Ipswich in the Championship table before his arrival in 2017.
Nuno had a dream. Now the time has come to wake up.

It has been a punishing season on and off the pitch for Nuno, shorn of key players and pining for his Portugal-based family.
Who could blame the 47-year-old if he decides a break – a Pep Guardiola-esque sabbatical if you will – is what he needs to recharge those batteries?
For now, however, Nuno’s intentions remain a mystery.
And it would come as no surprise to many at Molineux if one of the greatest managers in Wolves’ 144-year history is plotting a way to defeat his old employers from a new dugout next term.
