Manchester City are now ready to pay €60 million (£51.61 million) to sign Liverpool target Nuno Mendes, according to A Bola.
It has been reported that City manager Pep Guardiola likes Mendes, and that the newly-crowned Premier League champions have kept aside €60 million (£51.61 million) to sign the Sporting Lisbon left-back this summer.
City are also willing to pay €10 million (£8.60 million) as add-ons for the Portugal international, according to the report.
This suggests that the Citizens are ready to blow Liverpool out of the water for the talented and promising teenager.
City have just won the Premier League title and could clinch the Champions League as well this season.
Working with Guardiola could be very tempting for the full-back, who is also likely to earn a bigger salary at City than he would at Liverpool.
Andy Robertson is the first-choice left-back at Liverpool, and Mendes would be his understudy.
City left-back Benjamin Mendy has had injury problems, while Oleksandr Zinchenko started his career as an attacking midfielder but is now gelling at left-back.
There is a better chance of the 18-year-old Portugal international left-back establishing himself in the City first team than at Liverpool.
Liverpool are a massive and wealthy club, but it is hard to see last season’s Premier League champions spend €60 million (£51.61 million) on a teenager just to be a back-up to Robertson.
