Leeds have long had high hopes for Kun Temenuzhkov, but this summer could be crunch time for him.

The Whites snapped up Temenuzhkov back in the summer of 2017, and there was plenty of excitement surrounding him.

The 21-year-old had come through the Barcelona ranks, and was even compared to Luis Suarez by The Guardian back in 2017.

Despite the buzz over Temenuzhkov, it hasn’t really translated into success for him at Elland Road, making just one first-team appearance to date.

This term, the Bulgarian has been out on loan at Real Union in Spain’s third tier, scoring three goals in 16 games according to Transfermarkt – hardly the kind of form that would see him jump into Leeds’ first-team reckoning.

It’s unclear when Temeuzhkov’s deal ends at Leeds, but Transfermarkt suggest his contact does expire this summer.

That means Leeds may face a decision on whether to keep Temenuzhkov or let him go, as he hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential yet.

For now, Temenuzhkov is reflecting on his time with Real Union, confirming the end of his loan spell as he gears up for a return to Leeds and a big summer.

“My time on loan is over here at the Real Unión. I only have words of thanks, both to the players, the squad, staff and the people of the city, for one more year and meeting the objectives. Thank you all!”
