According to Corriere dello Sport, West Ham have now entered the race to sign Cagliari maestro Nahitan Nández, who is also wanted by Leeds.

The Italian news outlet mentions that both Premier League sides are interested in the 35-cap Uruguay international.

An earlier report from Cento Trentuno claimed that Nández has an agreement with Cagliari, which allows him to leave if a suitable offer arrives.

In that report, it states that the South American has a €36 million (£30.9 million) release clause.

Cento Trentuno also mentioned that Lazio, Napoli, Roma and Inter Milan are interested in Nández, but Leeds hold an advantage due to the greater finances in the Premier League.

Now Corriere dello Sport say that West Ham are interested, the same surely goes for them.

So, what type of player is the Cagliari No.18?

Well, Juventus stalwart Rodrigo Bentancur – Nández’s international teammate – waxed lyrical about the West Ham and Leeds target.

Speaking to Calciomercato, Bentancur said that Nández is a workhorse who leaves every last drop of sweat on the pitch.

He said: “I had no doubts about him adapting to Italian football, it’s a perfect league for his characteristics. Nández is certainly a great player. The fans always like him because he leaves the last drop of sweat on the pitch.”

Now, this will be a very interesting transfer baffle.

Leeds have the pull of Marcelo Bielsa and an entertaining style of play.

However, West Ham could have European football to offer Nández.

Keep an eye on this one, with the transfer window open in a matter of weeks.
