Arsenal are keen to sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham this summer, the Athletic say.

Mikel Arteta worked with Adarabioyo at Manchester City and the Arsenal boss is now keen for a reunion with him at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are understood to have made signing a new central defender one of their top priorities and the giant, 6ft 5inch, centre-back is said to be on their radar.

That may come as a surprise to many, given Fulham’s lack of success this season, but Scott Parker’s side have actually shown signs of promise at times.

Adarabioyo commanding aerial performances have certainly caught the eye and at the age of 23 he still has plenty of room to improve.

If Arsenal are to sign him they will have to compete with Newcastle United, who are also said to be keen.

Adarabioyo interestingly is said to have a release clause in his contract at Fulham, which Arsenal could meet.

Pep Guardiola, who used to manage Adarabioyo at City is certainly a fan of his talents.

He said to the Manchester Evening News: “He has all the quality. He is fast, he is faster than the people can believe it.

“He’s strong in the air. He has the quality to look behind the line for the next step, the next pass, but he has a lot of things to improve and I hope I can help him to develop his skills.”

If Adarabioyo was to join Arsenal he could join the likes of Rob Holding, Gabriel, William Saliba and Calum Chambers in competing for a place at the back.
