The Exciting new film featuring Bollywood star Suniel Shetty was set to release last year but has been given a new release date, which was earlier this year. Fans are wondering where they will be able to watch it.

The goes back in time to the 1980s-90s when Bombay was transforming into Mumbai. It shows the dramatised harsh realities that most likely occurred in India during the gentrification of Mumbai.

The film was directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by Bhushan and Krishan Kumar. It is set to feature stars such as John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi and well known Bollywood icon, Suniel Shetty. As the films release date draws near, fans want to know more about where they can watch it.

  • Mumbai Saga made its debut on Friday, 19th March 2021, for a theatrical release and Tuesday, 27th April for its release on Amazon Prime Video.

At the time of theatrical release, there was no news to say when it would premiere online. However, according to Indian Express, the film’s introduction to cinema was short-lived due to the pandemic.

There was some back and forth as to whether or not the film would premiere as OTT or theatrical but it managed to make it to cinema “before the second wave of coronavirus forced theatres to shut down once again”, which inevitably forced the film back to an online release.

The film will feature in its original language in Hindi and features the likes of Suniel Shetty, John Abram, Emraan Hashmi and Kajal Aggarwal.

Mumbai Saga: Where to watch

The film is now available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.

The confusion surrounding where to watch the film is due to the fact that the film had been intended for theatrical release. However, not long before its release it was said the film would follow a “direct to digital route“.

It was decided, Mumbai saga would be an OTT release, earlier this year as the film was to be featured exclusively on Amazon. This is because rights were sold to Amazon Prime Video for 65 Crores. However, due to reservations from cast members and creators, they decided to opt for a theatrical release instead. The film was subsequently released in cinemas as mentioned above, for a short amount of time.
