Chris Sutton has claimed on Twitter that West Bromwich Albion had a goal wrongly disallowed against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool today.

During the second half of the Premier League game between West Brom and Liverpool at The Hawthorns, the Baggies had a goal controversially ruled out.

Kyle Bartley had the ball in the back of the net for the Baggies, but Matt Phillips was adjudged to have been in front of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, and the goal was ruled out.

Former Chelsea and Norwich City striker Sutton believes that the goal should have stood.

West Brom were already relegated and did not have anything to play for at The Hawthorns today.

However, Liverpool had their Champions League hopes riding on the game.

Although the Reds attacked a lot, West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone made some wonderful saves.

The English goalkeeper could not keep out Alisson’s header in the final minutes of the game, as Liverpool won 2-1 to maintain their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

It was remarkable the way Alisson planted his headed into the back of the net.

There have not many occasions when a goalkeeper has gone up to the other end of the pitch and scored in the final moments of a game.

If Liverpool finish in the top four, then Alisson’s goal will have played a big role.
