Neil Lennon has said on BBC Radio 5 Live what he made of Virgil van Dijk when he first saw the defender during his time at Celtic.
Lennon worked with Liverpool central defender Van Dijk during his first spell as the Celtic manager.
The Netherlands international central defender moved to Celtic from Groningen in 2013, and after two successful years, he switched to Southampton in the Premier League.
Now at Liverpool, the 29-year-old has established himself as one of the best central defenders in the world.
Lennon said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “We got from Groningen and as soon as I saw him, I thought, I want to watch you, this guy’s going to be pretty special.”
Van Dijk was brilliant during his time at Celtic, and it was clear to all those who watched him play that he was a special player.

True, the Scottish league is not as good as the Premier League, but over the years some brilliant players have done well in the English top flight after coming from Scottish Premiership.
Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney came from Celtic, while John McGinn moved to Aston Villa from Hibernian, and both have been successful in the Premier League.
The likes of Van Dijk, Tierney and McGinn have shown that there are some real gems playing in the Scottish league.
