Some TikTok users are now able to post videos that are up to three minutes long, but how do you do it?

As you’ve been scrolling through your TikTok For You Page recently, you may have noticed that some videos seem really long.

That’s because TikTok is trialing a new feature that allows users to post videos up to three minutes long, rather than the usual 60 seconds.

TikTok trials three minute videos

At the start of December 2020, TikTok started trialling a new update that lets users post videos that are up to three minutes long.

This means that rather than choosing the usual 15 or 60 second options, you can film and edit three whole minutes of footage.

However, the feature is only available for some people right now.

How do you know if you’re part of the trial?

If your account is part of the trial, you will have received a notification that says:

“Upload longer videos: You have early access to uploading videos up to 3 minutes long on the TikTok app and desktop! To try it out, make sure your app is up-to-date and try uploading a video from your device to the app or tiktok.com.”

Unfortunately, if you didn’t receive this message, you won’t be able to make three minute videos on TikTok.

How do you do it?

If your account is part of the trial, here’s how to upload a three minute TikTok video…

  • Open TikTok and tap the + to create a new video.
  • At the bottom of the screen, you will see four options: 15s, 60s, 3m and templates.
  • Click on 3m, this means three minutes.
  • Then, upload your footage and create your TikTok video as normal.
