Liverpool defensive midfielder Fabinho has told the club’s official Youtube channel that Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams played well against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Phillips and Williams were the two centre-backs for Liverpool in the Premier League game. on Thursday evening
The two players had a difficult start to the game, with United scoring after just 10 minutes.
Phillips, 24, was criticised for the goal, but the central defender then provided an assist and was strong at the back, as Jurgen Klopp’s side won 4-2.
Fabinho – who was playing in his usual defensive midfield position, having played at the back for a long time this season – has praised Williams and Phillips.
The Brazilian has also hailed Phillips for stepping up this season and becoming a leader at the back.
Fabinho told Liverpool’s official YouTube channel: “Yesterday Rhys and Nat played a really good game. The communication between Rhys and Nat was really good, especially with Nat because Nat now he has stepped up, he is starting to show his leader face, and we really need someone at the back who can talk to the other players to be in the right position.”

Phillips almost left Liverpool on loan last summer, according to comments from former Reds goalkeeper Andy Lonergan in Goal.com in April 2021.
It is remarkable that the 24-year-old is now a key player for Liverpool at the back.
Injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have opened the door for the English centre-back.
Phillips must be praised for the way he has taken his chances, and it must be very encouraging for him to hear his teammates such as Fabinho speak so highly of him.
