Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Football London revealed that Alexandre Lacazette will be offered a one-year contract extension.

However, that doesn’t mean the Frenchman is staying in north London.

Football London state that Roma, Atlético Madrid and Monaco are keen to sign Arsenal’s No.9.

As a result, Arsenal may still decide to cash in on him this summer.

With just 12 months remaining on his current terms, Arsenal are currently in a precarious position with Lacazette.

If they were to talk with other clubs now, they would be leaving themselves in a weak negotiating position as the striker’s contract is soon to expire.

However, tying him down for another 12 months gives the Gunners some breathing space, and ensures his value is preserved.

Regardless of those interested in his services, we feel Lacazette has done enough to earn a new deal anyway.

He is Arsenal’s top scorer this season with 17 goals in all competitions, and he still has plenty to offer Mikel Arteta.

Without the 29-year-old’s goals, who knows where the Gunners would be in the Premier League table.

Furthermore, Lacazette’s experience can be useful in mentoring the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun.

Understandably, some fans below are happy to hear this news about the £52.7 million man signed by Arséne Wenger.

One supporter said that they’re ‘actually impressed’ with the club’s decision making on this occasion.

Another said that they’re not against this, as it allows Arteta and Edu to focus on strengthening other areas within the squad.
