Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter in horror after it was revealed that Mike Dean will referee Sunday’s game against West Brom.

Additionally, Kevin Friend will be on VAR duty when Jürgen Klopp’s men travel to the Hawthorns this weekend.

Now, you can understand why the Liverpool fans on Twitter are upset by this news.

Back in October, Dean caused controversy at Anfield when awarding Sheffield United a penalty, after initially giving a freekick.

Fabinho’s challenge on Oli McBurnie also appeared to be a legitimate one, so the fact that Liverpool were penalised at all was controversial.

Luckily for Dean, he escaped Klopp’s wrath as Liverpool went on to win 2-1 against the Blades.

In Friend’s case, he didn’t manage to avoid the German’s fury.

Back in February 2019, Klopp was fined £45,000 for comments which question Friend’s integrity as a referee.

He accused the official of trying to make up for an earlier mistake in a draw against West Ham by turning a blind eye to an obvious error, as talkSPORT covered.

With Liverpool in desperate need of three points this Sunday, there will be fury on the red half of Merseyside if Dean or Friend cause more controversy.

Klopp’s men have given themselves a chance of securing Champions League football with their impressive 4-2 win at Old Trafford.

If the Reds win their game in hand, they will be just one point away from Chelsea in fourth.

It really is set to go right down to the wire.

Let’s see how the Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted to the news…
