Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that he does not think that Tottenham Hotspur fans would like it if chairman Daniel Levy appointed Scott Parker as the new manager of Spurs.
Tottenham are on the hunt for a new permanent manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last month.
The Daily Mail reported last month that Fulham boss Parker is one of the managers Tottenham chairman Levy is reportedly looking at.
Former Arsenal star Merson, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, does not think that Spurs fans would want Parker to be their new manager.
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Scott Parker sounds like he has a big decision to make. But he should stay at Fulham. He’s a young manager who’s still learning. Do you leave Fulham and spend months out of the game, only to get offered a firefighting job by a struggling team? I’m not sure he’d walk into a new job if he quit.
“The Crystal Palace job might be available, but would Tottenham fans be happy with Scott Parker? I doubt it. He could be out of work for a while if he leaves. Look at Frank Lampard. He hasn’t got back in yet has he?”

Parker is a very young manager and guided Fulham to the Premier League at the end of last season.
However, the Cottagers have gone back down again.
It is not a very good look for Parker, but it is not just the former Tottenham midfielder’s fault.
If Spurs chairman Levy appointed the 40-year-old, then it would send a message to the fans that he is in for the long term.
It would also tell the Tottenham supporters that the team would be gradually building up again.
Will Spurs fans like it?
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham fans got used to challenging for the Premier League title and playing lovely football.
Spurs even reached the final of the Champions League in 2019.
Parker could be able to deliver that for Spurs, but it would take time.
